Mission Statement
Hanford Youth Services, Inc. (HYS Incorporated) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to improving the lives of young people across California by providing access to education, workforce training, mentorship, and essential life skills development—particularly for those facing social, economic, or personal challenges.
Founded with the belief that every young person deserves the opportunity to succeed, HYS focuses on delivering high-impact, no-cost programs that equip youth with the tools they need to build a brighter future. Through our partnerships with schools, vocational programs, and nonprofit institutions like Rancho Cielo in Salinas, we support youth from underserved communities by offering a second chance through hands-on training, academic support, and guidance in a safe and affirming environment.
Our core initiatives include:
- Education and Vocational Training: From diploma pathways to trade skills and certifications, we support youth in completing their education and gaining real-world, employable skills.
- Ag Technology & Mechatronics: We invest in high-demand programs that introduce students to smart farming, precision agriculture, and cutting-edge technologies such as drone operation, GPS systems, food safety protocols, and electro-mechanical automation.
- Broadcasting & Media Training: Our over-the-air radio and television broadcasting programs teach technical production, communication skills, and self-esteem, preparing youth for careers in the media industry. Students gain hands-on experience in live broadcasting, journalism, and audio/video editing.
- Mentorship & Counseling: We provide individualized support for youth navigating personal difficulties, offering mentorship, guidance, and wellness services to ensure emotional and psychological readiness for success.
- Community Engagement & Support: HYS supports local high schools and colleges through donations of airtime for school broadcasts, funding for uniforms and equipment, and sponsorship of sports and extracurricular activities that foster teamwork, confidence, and personal growth.
